Dormant
Accounts
Co-op
Services Credit Union is required to report to the State of
Michigan accounts or property that belong to owners who can’t
be located, or for whom there is no valid address. The Michigan
Uniform Unclaimed Property Act protects the accounts belonging
to owners who can not be located. Co-op Services Credit Union
identifies accounts in which the owner has not had any activity
and has not responded to our communication efforts. If the
account holder does not respond to us within five years the
account must be turned over to the State Treasurer. Two times
per year the Unclaimed Property Division publishes newspaper
advertisements directing people with unclaimed property to
the State Treasury website. The property is held by the state
until the account holder is located. If
you have an account with us that has not had any activity
recently please contact us to assure your account is not
declared dormant. Members may write a letter or call us
within every five year period to prevent the account from
being reported to the state as a dormant account.
